How to Remove Urine Stains from Bathroom Floor?

Urine stains on bathroom floors look disgusting and are hard to get rid of. If your dog pees on the bathroom floor, it’s going to leave a stain if you don’t clean it up right away. If you live in a house with kids who haven’t learned to use the potty yet, you might have to deal with pee stains now and then. It’s going to be tough for you to get rid of urine stains unless you know which cleaning agent works best for the job. You should not wait too long to clean up dog pee or else the odor it produces will be unpleasant and the stains will generally be quite tough to remove.

To keep your bathroom flooring clean and stain-free, you need to quickly remove pet stains. When dogs or cats urinate in one spot, they will often go back there to urinate again. This creates a big mess that can be hard to clean up. Fortunately, you can use a few different methods to remove pet urine from your bathroom flooring.

Baking Soda, Vinegar, and Dishwashing Liquid

A combination of products is the best way to remove stubborn urine stains from the bathroom floor. Baking soda, vinegar, and dishwashing liquid can be combined to make a perfect solution for cleaning stains from ceramic tile, porcelain, laminate, linoleum, vinyl flooring, stone tile, and more.

Materials Required:

  • Rubber gloves
  • Paper towels
  • Mop
  • Scrub brush
  • Trash bags
  • Baking soda
  • Dishwashing soap
  • White vinegar
  • 2-gallon bucket
  • Towels

Steps

1. First, use paper towels to clean up the urine and put the paper towels in the garbage bags. Don’t flush the towels in the toilet because this can cause a clog.

2.  Make a solution of  ½  cup of white vinegar, three tablespoons of liquid dish soap, and hot water in a bucket.

 3. After mixing the cleaning solution, use a cloth or mop to apply the solution to the floor and rub it in with brisk strokes to thoroughly saturate the area.

4. After cleaning the space, refill the bucket with fresh hot water and return to the area for another cleaning.

5.  Use a dry towel to remove excess moisture when the floor is damp or wait until the floor is dry.

6.  if you can still see the stain, apply a mixture of 3 tablespoons baking soda and 1/4 cup water to it. Let it sit overnight then wipe it off in the morning. If the stain is still there, reapply the baking soda paste and let it sit another night. Repeat this process until removed all the stains.

Use White Vinegar and Grapefruit Oil

Grapefruit oil is an effective, all-natural stain remover. It has anti-bacterial properties and can be combined with vinegar to lift urine stains from your bathroom floor within a matter of minutes. The solution is effective for different types of floors, including linoleum, porcelain, ceramic tile, hardwood, vinyl, and laminate.

Materials Required:

  • Paper towels
  • Spray bottle
  • Rubber gloves
  • Garbage bags
  • Grapefruit oil
  • White vinegar
  •  Mop

Steps

1.  First, use paper towels to clean up the urine and put the paper towels in the garbage bags.

2. Mix with 10 drops of grapefruit oil and 1/2-cup of white vinegar and pour it into a spray bottle.

3. Shake well before using.

4. Spray the mixture on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes.

5. Wipe up excess liquid, then rinse away any remaining residue with warm water. Repeat if necessary until you’ve removed all traces of urine from your bathroom flooring.

Baking Soda, Dish Soap, and Hydrogen Peroxide

This powerful solution effectively removes stains on your bathroom floor. You can use it on several surfaces, including ceramic, porcelain, laminate, vinyl, and linoleum.

Materials Required:

  • Paper towels
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Mop
  • Dish soap
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Scrub brush
  • Baking soda
  • Rubber gloves
  • Garbage bags

Steps:

1. Soak up the urine with paper towels and then throw the paper towels in the garbage bag.

2. Next, you’ll need a bucket full of warm water. Add a teaspoon of baking and 1/4-cup of hydrogen peroxide to make the cleaning solution.

3.  Apply the solution to the stain by using a mop or scrubbing brush. Let the solution sit for 5 to 10 minutes for tougher or larger stains.

4. Once the stain is lifted, use an all-purpose cleaner on the area, and then refill your bucket of warm water and add a few drops of dish soap to apply to the area for extra cleaning.

5. If the stain still hasn’t been completely removed, mix 2 tablespoons of the solution with 1 tablespoon of peroxide and apply it directly to the stain. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Repeat as needed until the stain is completely gone.

Use An Enzymatic Cleaner

Enzyme cleaners are naturally derived compounds that, when combined with water, remove stains and odors. They’re safe for use on both hard surfaces and delicate fabrics such as carpets. These cleaners are effective at removing urine stains because they break down the protein in the urine, which is what causes the discoloration of the flooring material.

The best way to find an enzymatic cleaner is by visiting your local pet store or home improvement store.  You can also purchase these products online from Amazon or other online retailers that specialize in pet supplies and cleaning products.

Materials Required:

  • Paper towels
  • Enzymatic cleaner
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Rubber gloves

Steps:

1. First, soak up the urine with paper towels and then throw the paper towels in the garbage bag.

2. Spray the enzymatic cleaner on the affected area of the floor and let it sit for 5 to 15 minutes. Then, wipe up the area using a cloth or a mop.

3. Once the solution has soaked into the stain, wipe it up with a paper towel or sponge and repeat as needed until the stain is completely gone.

You can mix your cleaning solution or buy one

If you’re feeling too lazy to mix your cleaning solution, or if you don’t have the right ingredients on hand, then there are commercial products that can help. You can buy a commercial cleaner that is made specifically for urine stains and smells. Or, you can purchase a pre-mixed cleaning solution from any home improvement store. Either way is fine!

Hopefully, we’ve helped you see that cleaning up a urine stain is not as difficult as it may seem.
